David Elkind (and others) believe that the imaginary audience and the personal fable – both by-products of cognitive changes – appear in early adolescence and disappear during late adolescence. Do you agree or disagree? Are adolescents the only ones susceptible to this loss of perspective? Why do you say that? If “adolescent egocentrisn” does fade with age, what factors might contribute to it’s disappearance?
